ICD10 Compliance Television Broadcast

[Johannesburg, 18 May 2005]

Netcare in association with Switch and Med-e-Mass is planning to provide a 4-hour course on television (DSTV) via Matters Medical Television on 21st May from 08:30 to 13:00 with short breaks in between sessions. Practitioners should have a working knowledge of ICD-10 on completion of the course. Course notes will provided using an SMS to e-mail service.

The course will be presented by Sithara Satiyadev from Africode. She is a certified professional coder, and has degrees and diplomas in coding. She has several years of experience in training staff in coding.

The content will be as follows:

Intro Explanatory message from Patrick Matshidze from the Council of Medical Schemes. 10 mins

2. Break 5 mins
3. Basic Structure and Principles 30 mins
4. Break 5 mins

6. Break 10 mins
7. Rules and conventions continued 40 mins
8. Break 5 mins
9. Accuracy in coding 40 mins
10. Break 10 mins
11. More rules and conventions 40 mins
12. Break 5 mins
13. Questions & additional point’s 15 mins

Registration is free to you and your staff, but should you wish to claim 4-CPD points, category 5, there will be a charge of R114.00 (R100+VAT).

Registration - Steps the doctor must follow to register:

  • Registration is FREE of charge.To register, please complete the registration form attached with your personal details.
  • If it is staff of a medical practice that will be viewing the broadcast, you still have to include the doctor's HPCSA number.
  • You have to supply the DSTV Smart card number you are going to use to view the broadcast, as Global Access needs to activate the commercial channel on the DSTV for the broadcast. This is free.
  • Please mail the registration form to mmtv@mweb.co.za or fax it to 044 384 0128.

Activating your DSTV commercial channel to view the Broadcast.

  • Press the TV button to access the SELECTION Bouquet.
  • Use the DOWN arrow button to scroll down to Commercial Subscription.
  • When Commercial Subscriptions is highlighted press the OK button.
  • Then select channel two (2) on the decoder by pressing the P+ or the number 2 button on the remote control unit.
